Weekend voor de Wetenschap 2024

Sunday the 6th of October, we successfully executed our “know what you eat” activity during Weekend voor de Wetenschap. We creatively adapted the supply chain into a very popular Dutch game ‘kwartet’ to teach our young people (and adults too) about the processes which enable food to get from the farm to their plates at home.

The importance of this education is that when we know where our food comes from, we are more likely to make healthier food choices. Also, knowing how much is put into bringing the food to our plates makes us more aware of the implications of food waste.

We also had the opportunity to understand what people (young and older) like and hate about vegetables. This intervention was part of the SEED (Pathways to Sustainability) project “Getting personal with vegetables” at Utrecht University.
